Course InformationThe Lake District has to be one of the most stunning locations in which to do your Gold Expedition. In the first week you will cover the skills necessary for operating as a team in the ‘wild country’ area of the Lake District, including realistic practice expeditions. In the second week you will plan and take part in your assessed expedition.
The 13 day course covers expedition training including all sections in the record book with the exception of first aid – map and compass skills, campcraft, food and cooking, team building and emergency procedures. During the first week you will also undertake a closely supervised 2/3 day practice expedition in wild country. During the latter half of the course you will design your own route and prepare for the qualifying venture. The qualifying venture will be assessed by local assessors and you will prepare and deliver presentations to the assessors on the final day of the course. This course covers the requirements for the Practice expedition or the Residential experience, and the Qualifying expedition (subject to approval by each member's Local D of E Operating Authority).
